Balkan Sobranie Tobacco Review
Herewith my impressions of this tobacco. I’ve also made a video of the Balkan Sobranie Tobacco Review on my YouTube channel with a link next to the name or on the image of the tin. If not yet, it will be added soon.
Balkan Sobranie Tobacco is not available in South Africa and seems to be fairly scarce internationally as well. There is a huge “hype” over this tobacco, but my first impression was – average. I’ve actually enjoyed recreations of this more than this tobacco itself; like Russ Oulette’s Black House. But it is still a favourite tobacco which I will buy anytime.
Enjoy and please leave comments of your impressions.
Balkan Sobranie 795 (Video Review)
General description: Balkan Sobranie Original Smoking Mixture from the house of JF Germain & Son is one of the most legendary Latakia-based blends in history. Dating back to around the 1920s, this is a combination of wonderful Virginias, excellent Orientals and enough Latakia for a robust and flavourful mixture. The balance of tobaccos gives the smoker a sweet and smoky experience, with a finish unlike anything else. The aroma is so bright that it has an incense-like scent that will thrill the senses. Since the Original, this blend has gone through a number of iterations and releases over the years (and is the subject of many recreations). 1
Blend of Latakia, Oriental/Turkish, Virginia.
My Balkan Sobranie Tobacco Review: In the tin, I smelled the typical smokiness from the Latakia with some lemony/soury notes.
Taste: Honestly, I expected more, due to the “hype” of this tobacco. I would’ve have loved more Latakia. Slight tongue bite for me. Too little smokiness.
